Jovie

We lost our sweet Jovie suddenly late last night. She was fine and then she wasn’t. She was only 9.

She was our first true family dog and was such a good girl that we got Ellie and I got Indy. When we first got her, she was a Christmas gift in a giant hatbox just like in Lady and the Tramp. She was the cutest little puppy and loved to run up to you and then suddenly flatten herself out like a rug when she got to you.

She loved to run and would race around the yard every night checking the perimeter until we finally put a fence up for her safety. And she loved to race with us. The kids would get a head start and she would still beat them, running around the swingset so fast that we would say she looked like a black bullet.

She’d follow me around the house whenever Mama wasn’t home and loved to lay on any blanket she could find or next to whoever was on the couch at the time. She wasn’t picky.

She loved wearing her collar and would get excited every time we got it out. She’d bark at any loud noise but was actually super friendly. Once she warmed up to them, she took good care of the puppies and would let them lay next to her or even on her.

She loved trying to catch water from the kids’ water guns but she couldn’t be outside long when we would swim because she’d bark every time someone would go under or splash too loud.

She also loved the grass when it was warm. She loved to just lay in it and sunbathe but her favorite was rolling around in it like a big weirdo. But she was our weirdo and we loved her ❤️
